My Story

My story is in the Archives. It will help explain my motivation in creating this blog/journal.

Goals: Run, Run, Run!! (I think about it every day. Every day!) - 10K (at least 3 this year) - 1/2 marathon (outside of practice) - St. George Marathon (Ran a 4:24 it in 2004. Want to do it under 4 hours this time) - Boston Marathon (My life long running dream besides the Olympics.)

Day 1 - Again

February 16, 2010
Unknown Miles

On the road again. Finally! It felt pretty good, which surprised me. My surgery went well and has helped so much. I'm glad I did it even though it set me back. I was very surprised to run the entire time today. I think I might have run just under a mile or so. I'm sure it took me way to long, but I ran the entire way. I fully expected to be walking today. It feels soooo great to be back out. Getting out of bed was hard, but of course the after feeling is the best.

It was pretty cold. Warmer than I thought it would be but still cold. My ears are hurting. I'll have to find my head band to help with that.

I'm at my ideal weight which I'm sure helped with my being able to run. Not carrying around that extra weight is great. And it is great that my stomach didn't hurt at all. Physically I feel pretty good. Mentally it feels good to.

I have always liked running without music because I could hear what was going on around me. (Especially when birds are attacking me.) I like to spend that time contemplating, praying, and thinking about the day to come. It's quiet time for me. The kids can't come yelling, "Mom!" and I don't have to look at the messy house.

Today I saw kids at the bus stop but no runners which surprised me. I also saw one bird. I'm still afraid of birds, but I'm working through that fear. (See previous entries.) Last year I spent time writing about weird things I saw, like Sprite cans. My son said that was completely rediculous and that no one, including me, would really care about that in the long run. Today was particularlly "trashy" because the snow is melting and the things that were under or in or on top of the snow are now on the ground. I'm sure I can find more interesting things to write about in the "Today I saw" portion of my log. (119)
