My Story

My story is in the Archives. It will help explain my motivation in creating this blog/journal.

Goals: Run, Run, Run!! (I think about it every day. Every day!) - 10K (at least 3 this year) - 1/2 marathon (outside of practice) - St. George Marathon (Ran a 4:24 it in 2004. Want to do it under 4 hours this time) - Boston Marathon (My life long running dream besides the Olympics.)

And Again....

So, once again I'm on a journey to get to where I want to be. I want to be the runner physically that I am mentally. Started last Monday with 1 mile, Tuesday I ran 1.5 miles, Wednesday I ran 1.7 miles, Thursday I ran 2.44 miles, Friday I ran 3.08 miles, Saturday and Sunday I didn't do much because my kids were sick and it was Easter Weekend.

Thursday I got a new ap for my i-phone called iMapMyRun+ which gives all kinds of cool details about my run, including mapping it. Pretty cool! Here are some details....

Monday - Weight was 151.9
Thursday 4/5/2012: 2.44 mi, 33:07 min, 13:37 min/mi
Friday 4/6/2012: 3.09 mi, 44:07 min, 14:18 min/mi
Saturday - Weight was 147.2

This week I'll start my journal again.

What happened? Well...my husband left and when he left I was in good shape and my weight was 118 lbs. That was in October 2009. At that time I had to go back to work. It was really hard. I don't want to use that as an excuse, it's just what happened.

In May 2011 I was remarried and am very happy! I'm still working. Leaving the house at 7:15 a.m. and getting home at 6:45 every day. At work I don't really have any place to keep food nor to buy food. Makes it really hard. I signed up for Weight Watchers. I'm hoping that will help. So far I think it has because I lost some weight last week. I'm going to be lifting weights as well as running. My new husband is a weight lifter and he can help teach me. Building muscle is the fastest way to loosing weight besides eating right. I also think that building muscle will help me to run faster.

Goal: Still St. George Marathon, but now it's also to be at my goal weight of 115 as well. Most importantly, to be healthy! And feel good about myself.

I'm living in the country now. Lots of different cool things to see and run around. Here are some sheep I saw the other day. They are so awesome! They came running over and watched me and my dog run by so I took a picture. As we kept running by they followed us so I turned around to take another picture of them all in a big group but they all took off running. It was hillarious!

Day 1 - Again

February 16, 2010
Unknown Miles

On the road again. Finally! It felt pretty good, which surprised me. My surgery went well and has helped so much. I'm glad I did it even though it set me back. I was very surprised to run the entire time today. I think I might have run just under a mile or so. I'm sure it took me way to long, but I ran the entire way. I fully expected to be walking today. It feels soooo great to be back out. Getting out of bed was hard, but of course the after feeling is the best.

It was pretty cold. Warmer than I thought it would be but still cold. My ears are hurting. I'll have to find my head band to help with that.

I'm at my ideal weight which I'm sure helped with my being able to run. Not carrying around that extra weight is great. And it is great that my stomach didn't hurt at all. Physically I feel pretty good. Mentally it feels good to.

I have always liked running without music because I could hear what was going on around me. (Especially when birds are attacking me.) I like to spend that time contemplating, praying, and thinking about the day to come. It's quiet time for me. The kids can't come yelling, "Mom!" and I don't have to look at the messy house.

Today I saw kids at the bus stop but no runners which surprised me. I also saw one bird. I'm still afraid of birds, but I'm working through that fear. (See previous entries.) Last year I spent time writing about weird things I saw, like Sprite cans. My son said that was completely rediculous and that no one, including me, would really care about that in the long run. Today was particularlly "trashy" because the snow is melting and the things that were under or in or on top of the snow are now on the ground. I'm sure I can find more interesting things to write about in the "Today I saw" portion of my log. (119)

Surgery

Day ??? I'll have to start all over soon.
November 10, 2009

I had to have surgery and haven't been able to run. I expect to be able to run by the beginning of the year, according to the Dr. The surgery will make it easier for me to run without stomach problems. (104)

I'll be back!

Down to 114 lbs. 6 lbs lower than I should be and 12 lbs lower than I was a month ago. I think I lost all of my muscle!

day 7

Day 76 - 97
August 30 - September 18, 2009

OK, so LIFE! Things have been crazy to say the least. I'll just give the low down.

I have been running from 2-5 miles a day. I've been running about 9:50-10:00 minute miles, until last week. I started running 7:30 - 8:00 miles!! I don't know what happened but I like it.
I haven't been running everyday. Maybe the rest between has helped.

I ran a 16 min 2 miles
I ran a 26 min 3 miles
I ran a 15:04 min 2 miles
Today I ran "slowly" and ran a 31 min 3 miles! I took my dog and had to stop and get her some water.

Needless to say I have been improving my times. Shorter, faster then longer, faster. Seems to be working.

Yesterday I ran right after I walked the kids to school. There were women with strollers everywhere! I mean everywhere! It was like I was in a race and passing everyone! It was cool, even though they were all walking. I think it improved my time. Of course, I felt weird. Here's me running as fast as I can and women walking with strollers. Oh well, it was a great run.

I have been running after taking the kids to school because it is too dark at 6:30 am. It is too hot at 9:00, but better than running in the dark.

I only have 5 lbs left to be at my ideal weight. I have to have surgery in the middle of October. We'll see how far behind that puts me.

Day 76

August 29, 2009
NONE

Today I am really feeling the affects from yesterdays eating binge. My stomach is NOT happy with me! (96)

Day 75

August 28, 2009
No run. Got up late.

:(

Oh well, I figured I would take the entire day off. I made two different kinds of cookies and ate most of them. They were SOOO good! I haven't had cookies for a while.

Today I saw that I have gained 1lb back. You would think this would have kept me from eating cookies, but NO! I really need to eat better. I really want to loose these, now 9lbs!

Day 74

August 26, 2009
3 miles 27 minutes

I felt pretty good. I thought I was running faster, but wasn't sure until I got done. I think instead of trying to pump up my miles everyday I'll try to lower my times. Then I can do both time and distance everyday.

Today I saw the same kids lined up for the bus. I felt really stupid. I was going to try to run earlier but it was too dark. I'll have to start running later, maybe even after I get the kids off to school. That cuts into MY time, but I guess running is MY time. It may be hot though. It's the only way!

Day 73

August 25, 2009
3 miles 30 min.

I didn't realize I was running 3 miles. It worked out fine though, after I realized it didn't take me 30 min to run 2 miles.

Today I saw kids lined up for the school bus. 3 different "gaggles." They didn't say hi even though I knew most of them. They just looked at me with a strange look on their faces.

Day 72

August 24, 2009
1 mile (monday morning mile) New thing.
15 min.

Tired, but that is what Monday's are about right? Getting up and going after a day of rest and eating.

Today I saw kids getting ready to get on the bus for school. I'm sure they wondered what an old woman was doing out running.

Day 71

August 23, 2009
Day of Rest
